If you’re in counseling, they’d probably tell you to journal your feelings. Write out the pros and cons of that relationship. Sit quietly and think about all the good things about yourself.
That’s cute.
That doesn’t work. I’ve done it. I’ve been there.
Five counselors in two years. There’s only so much reflection a man can do before he starts drowning in his own thoughts.
That’s not how we do it here.
As your coach—we are active. We are physical. We are task-oriented. We are accountable. Period.
You don’t sit in the storm hoping it passes. You move through it.
So if you’re trying to get through this week with a heavy heart, stop waiting for your emotions to lighten up.
Lead yourself forward. One move at a time.
1. Move Your Body 💪
Your heart is heavy, so carry something heavier.
🔷 Walk. No phone. No excuses.
🔷 Go sweat. The gym. The yard. Anywhere.
🔷 Clean your space. Handle your business.
Motion breaks the fog. Action cuts through apathy.
2. Stay in Structure 🧱
When your emotions are wild, structure is sanity.
🔷 Wake up at the same time or Earlier.
🔷 Make the bed.
🔷 Eat healthy.
🔷 Get one task done. Then another.
Small wins lead to momentum. And momentum moves mountains.
3. Don’t Isolate 🛡️
Isolation will lie to you.
🔷 Call a brother.
🔷 Text someone you trust: “You got 5 minutes?”
🔷 Get in the room. Don’t miss church. Don’t dodge people.
Connection saves lives. Silence buries them.
4. Get Your Hands Dirty 🛠️
Don’t just think. Build. Fix. Create. Restore.
🔷 Finish that project in the garage.
🔷 Fix something that’s broken.
🔷 Plant something. Work the soil.
🔷 Create order with your hands—and your mind will follow.
ALTARed men don’t sit still. We work with purpose. We move with grit.
5. Open the Word 📖
You don’t need another quote. You need truth.
🔷 Psalm 34:18
🔷 Romans 5:3–5
🔷 2 Corinthians 4:8–9
Even if it feels dry—show up. God meets the man who opens the door.
Heavy doesn’t mean hopeless. It means it’s time to lead.
No more sitting. No more spiraling. No more waiting for the feeling to pass.
Stand. Move. Structure. Connect. Work. Read.
You’re not weak—you’re in the fire. But you’re still here. Still breathing. Still called.
No More Nails.
